Ocean conversation non-profit Beneath the Waves and Hexagon received the Geospatial World Leadership Award for pioneering research about The Bahamas’ coastal seagrass ecosystem and its carbon mitigation potential. The award in the Advancing Sustainability category honours Hexagon’s sustainability business venture R-evolution, along with Beneath The Waves and Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon.

The City of Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia in Austria, used HxDR and M.App Enterprise software by Hexagon to create a digital twin that will revolutionise its urban planning. Using 19,000 individual images captured in a four-and-a-half-hour flight over the city, the digital twin helps planners better understand property utilisation and recognise valuable plots of green space. Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, announced the Leica Pegasus TRK100. The product accelerates digital twin creation and large-scale infrastructure measurement. As a lightweight solution (weighing only 14 kg), the Pegasus TRK100 can be mounted on any vehicle and allows more cameras to be utilised. Hexagon announced that Eva Carranza, Global Head of Sustainability, will serve as World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC) Patron. The WGIC advances climate action through geospatial tech and includes more than 30 companies as members, including Bentley, Microsoft, Oracle, Trimble and more.
