More than 1,500 people attended the third annual Latin America Geospatial Forum (LAGF) in Rio de Janeiro last month. With the theme “Sustainability to Resilience: Geospatial Way,” the conference focused on using modern-day geospatial technology to make smarter decisions amidst the nation’s economic storm. Nearly 100 speakers from across the globe delivered thought-provoking sessions related to geospatial trends and their specific impact in Latin America.
Among the speakers were some of Hexagon’s solution and industry experts. Mladen Stojic, VP of Intergraph Geospatial, spoke in the plenary session “Geospatial Enabling Resilient Development,” a plenary focused on green growth and resource efficiency. From disaster relief to natural resource management, Stojic discussed how to best utilize leading geospatial technology.
Additional speakers included local Hexagon thought leaders. Guillermo Gallo of Leica Geosystems discussed the promotion of Brazilian urban management and how products such as Leica Pegasus:One facilitate this through a single vehicle mapping system. In addition, Irineu da Silva of Leica Geosystems spoke at “Risk Management and Disaster Response,” focusing on the advantages of using integrated geodetic systems for measurement and relief efforts.
Marcos Alberto Stanischeck Molnar of SISGRAPH focused on the vital role geospatial solutions play in agriculture. He delved into Hexagon’s Smart Agriculture, a comprehensive solution to provide a better, faster and safer way to harvest.
LAGF attendees also enjoyed the hands-on Hexagon Technology Track, which featured solutions from Intergraph and Leica Geosystems. If the two-hour track wasn’t enough, attendees were able to drop in and out of the Technology Expo to demo products such as Intergraph’s GeoMedia and ERDAS Imagine and Leica Geosystem’s Nova MS50, Zeno and ScanStation P20.
GeoIntelligence Latin America was held in tandem with LAGF. It was a privilege to speak to attendees about Intergraph public safety and defense solutions that address South America’s challenges, and share customer success stories from Brazil and around the world.
Guiding Latin America’s forum for geospatial sustainability – that’s shaping smart change.
