I’d like to welcome you to the new Hexagon Shaping Change blog.
Since joining Hexagon as President and CEO 12 years ago, our company has undergone a significant transformation. We can now connect a customer’s entire workflow through a bidirectional link between the real world and the corresponding maps or models in the digital world. The possibilities that can emerge out of this type of connection are vast, and they speak directly to our ability to design solutions that help shape our future.
For me, shaping change is all about empowering the world with actionable information in order to address the macroeconomic challenges we’re facing, not just react to them. Because, let’s face it – our planet is changing at a dramatic rate, and we need to get ahead of it. There are more people alive today than have ever lived, and our world continues to grow at a rate of one billion people every 13 years. Think of what that means. We’re going to need more infrastructure, more resources and more energy sources, for starters.
These challenges seem insurmountable at times. And that’s exactly why I’m excited about this blog. It’s a medium for us to share our thoughts on how we can use technology and information to be the agents of change…not the victims of it. As I’ve said before, what good is information if you can’t take action and what good is action without information?
You’ll hear from Hexagon’s management team and top executives, all of whom are experts in their respective fields. They’ll share details about the exciting projects we’re undertaking, how our customers are working to shape change and how developments in our industries are influencing the world we live in. I hope you will find this blog to be a place of inspiration for how we can all work together to meet the growing needs of tomorrow.
We’ll be discussing many of these topics in June, when we convene in Las Vegas for Hexagon 2012, our second annual international conference. I invite you to join us as we Think Forward, pushing the boundaries of what was previously thought possible to drive progress, both in our business and in our world.
