What is the shape of potential and why does it matter?

Potential means different things to different people. People often talk about ‘reaching their potential,’ but how many people say they actually have? “Hi, my name’s Jane. I’ve reached my full potential. That box is checked!”

For a company to credibly speak of ‘achieving potential’ without being superficial, the idea of smart change must be part of its reason for being.

When I stop and think about what potential means to Hexagon, I can’t help but think about what we’ve accomplished throughout the years. It’s easy to compare the past and the present. But the shape of potential is a moving target … more of a forward-looking theme. And that’s a much harder comparison – to know with certainty what lies ahead.

At Hexagon, our philosophy has always been to look at today as a starting line for the future, and what resonates with me is how our potential has grown over time. Yesterday our potential was constrained by the technologies available to us. Today the enabling technologies have vastly improved. And tomorrow will bring even greater possibilities.

As we prepare for this year’s HxGN LIVE, we again focus on our ability to shape change – smart change. I think it’s safe to say Hexagon has and continues to make tremendous strides towards creating the type of world we all would like to live in – a world with limitless potential. At this year’s conference, we’ll discuss the unique approach Hexagon is taking with our ’Smart X’ initiatives – specifically smart cities, smart industrial facilities, smart factories, smart mining and smart agriculture.

These initiatives are all driven by the desire to make entire systems more efficient. Systems built around an information network with connectivity at the core, serving up data in the most intelligent and visually meaningful way.

Not every company can claim they collaborate daily with thought‑leading organisations that advance our world and contribute to communities around the globe. HxGN LIVE is our opportunity to share these stories – stories about how we are working together with our customers to embrace change and create a dynamic new normal – today.

“Hi, our name is Hexagon. There’s big disruption on the horizon – our potential to shape smart change – and it’s limitless.”

I look forward to seeing and meeting ‘the potential of you’ at HxGN LIVE in June.
