The Story Goes On …
“There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story.”
These are the words of American novelist Frank Herbert, and I can think of none better to describe the last day of this year’s HxGN LIVE. Yesterday we closed the door on what attendees have said is the best Hexagon annual conference ever. With more than 3,500 in attendance, more than 400 sessions and the excitement of HxGN LIVE TV capturing every second, the conference represented what happens when innovation and inspiration meet in a spirit of partnership – they spark ideas, dialogue, passion and all the good things that can change the world.
And even though HxGN LIVE 2014 has ended, our stories of shaping change will endure until we can gather in this place again to share and exchange knowledge that will continue to move us forward.
We started this year’s event in high gear with President and CEO Ola Rollén’s opening keynote on Monday, and things never slowed down. Despite the three-day juggernaut of activity that preceded it, HxGN LIVE’s final day was still energetic and filled with purposeful content.
Things started with the PP&M Keynote “ConocoPhillips and ENI Discuss How to Establish a Valuable Engineering Information Asset.” Luciano Salvaneschi, T/S I.C.T. client manager from ENI S.p.A., and Shyam Kumar, manager of Engineering Deepwater Asset Development at ConocoPhillips, discussed why correct digital asset information is important to support safe engineering processes such as operations, maintenance and modification.
Shyam focused on technology aspects and discussed the importance of people and process change management. Luciana shared how a cloud-based service is allowing ConocoPhillips to foster collaboration during multiple engineering project executions on a global scale. They were joined by Mirko Stock, senior vice president at Intergraph PP&M Germany, who explained how to handle challenges with high-quality engineering information exchange on complex, global or multi-vendor projects.
Just before lunch, Intergraph SG&I President Steven Cost enlightened listeners about the power of location and how this can be harnessed to deliver complete, current and actionable information for smarter decisions. Attendees viewed game-changing computer aided software, which is used to leverage next-generation communication. Attendees saw first-hand how Google Glass aids first responders and field crews. Attendees also heard about how SG&I has helped improve public safety around the world.
The conference closed with Alan Sack, sales director at Intergraph, recapping all the interesting tips, tricks and topics discussed throughout the week. It was a great opportunity for attendees to discuss their personal experiences with Intergraph Smart Infrastructure solutions and hear insights from fellow users while comparing notes about their HxGN LIVE experience.
We’re still capturing the conference on HxGN LIVE TV, so be sure to check the streaming schedule and tune in for recorded keynotes, sessions and product demonstrations about your field of work. Please note session schedules are subject to change.
See You Next Year
All good things must come to an end, but good news – only 365 days, give or take a few, until the next HxGN LIVE. There’s more in store for 2015, Hexagon’s biggest year in innovation yet. For the first time, HxGN LIVE will be brought to you from two locations – we’ll be back at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas 1-4 June, then November will see the premiere of HxGN LIVE Hong Kong 18-20 November. Registration for Las Vegas is now open, so reserve your spot today. And be sure to stay tuned to hxgnlive.com for the Hong Kong location and other updates.
In the meantime, the story goes on …
